AFAR Description

June 16th, 2007—AFAR
A Frick n’ Adventure Race, Pittsburgh, PA

This race will include approximately 1+ miles of paddling on the Allegheny River, 8-10 miles of very sweet technical single track mountain biking, 5-6 miles of trail running, and several “hazards”—or team building tests of skill. It will also include a medium length test of navigational ability. All combine for an event lasting 2-4 hours, depending on ability and/or fitness level.

This race will start with a paddle prologue in kayaks provided by Kayak Pittsburgh. PFD’s and paddles will also be provided. Prologue start time is between 6:00 and 8:00 am. Team prologue start times will be released by June 12th. Transition area opens at 6:00 am and race start is 9:00 am.

Meet and start at Duck Hollow Parking Lot, Frick Park, Pittsburgh, Pa.

All Grass Roots Adventure Races are designed to be raced by teams of two (any sex) and teammates must travel together at all times. Solo racers are invited to race unofficially or we can try to locate a teammate for you.

Prizes will be awarded to top three in each category--Co-Ed, all Female, and all Male--with the best prizes going to the Co-Ed division.
